Why I Wrote It
I've seen both sides of the housing equation: a tenant under challenging circumstances and a property manager entrusted with multimillion-dollar portfolios. I know the harm that comes from cutting corners. I also know the trust that's built when you do the right thing, even when no one's watching.
I wrote Property Management Excellence because I believe our industry can do better. For too long, property management has been seen as a necessary but uninspired function, a cost center rather than a driver of long-term value. I wanted to change that narrative.
This book is my blueprint for building and managing real estate in a way that protects investments, serves people, and strengthens communities. It's based on the same principles that turned my own story from Section 8 housing to CEO: integrity, listening, an owner mindset, quality of life, and legacy.
